The existing head standards in China are formulated separately based on different structural types (elliptical, dish-shaped, conical) and forming methods (stamping, spinning). This not only leads to the unreasonable phenomenon of inconsistent quality requirements for different standard heads, but also brings some difficulties to the selection and revision of standard heads.
Firstly, the previous head standards were only compatible with GB150 "Steel Pressure Vessels", which only considered the manufacturing, inspection, and acceptance requirements of heads designed according to rules. However, China had already completed the dual track system of GB150 and JB4732 basic standards for pressure vessels as early as 1995 (in line with the "Analysis and Design Standards for Steel Pressure Vessels"), lacking a head standard that was compatible with analysis and design, It cannot be said that it is a major flaw in the standardization work of pressure vessels in China.
Secondly, GB150 is a mandatory standard, while the head standard developed based on GB150 and accompanying it is indicative (recommended), which is obviously unreasonable and difficult to ensure the quality of the head, an important pressure component.
